An expert has warned people to avoid throwing excess Baileys down the sink following their Easter celebrations.
The popular tipple is often people's drink of choice at family gatherings over the Christmas and Easter breaks. However, the product typically has a shelf life of six months and sometimes need to be disposed of after festive periods.
Plumbing experts have repeatedly discouraged people from throwing the cream liqueur down the sink . Although it might seem like the obvious way to dispose of gone off Baileys, its creamy content can quickly clog drains.

Alex Saunders, head of Southern Water's wastewater network in the UK, warns: "Something like Baileys, which has a cream content could add to problems. No one likes a nasty surprise over the festive season and a blocked drain is no different."
The same advice applies to more obvious food items, such as oily foods and sauces. These should also not be disposed of down the drain due to a risk of blockages.
Manufacturers recommend ditching a bottle of Baileys after it hits the six month mark as its creamy content tends to go off at this cut off point. The bottle itself is easily recycled after use.
