Expectations for Global Sugar Deficits Push Prices Sharply Higher

July NY world sugar #11 (SBN26) today is up +0.33 (+2.20%), and Aug London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ26) is up +12.40 (+2.81%).

Sugar prices rallied sharply today at 1-week highs amid an outlook for tighter global sugar supplies. Consultant Datagro today raised its 2026/27 global sugar surplus deficit estimate to -3.17 MMT from a prior estimate of -2.26 MMT. On Tuesday, StoneX predicted that the global sugar market will fall into a -550,000 MT deficit during the 2026/27 season from a 2.3 MMT surplus in the 2025/26 season.
