March NY world sugar #11 (SBH25) Thursday closed down -0.19 (-0.96%), and March London ICE white sugar #5 (SWH25) closed down -5.90 (-1.12%).
Sugar prices Thursday retreated from a 7-week high and closed moderately lower. The outlook for a global sugar surplus is undercutting prices after Green Pool Commodity Specialists projected the global sugar market will shift to a surplus of +2.7 MMT in the 2025/26 crop year, compared to a deficit of -3.7 MMT in 2024/25.
