Exeter-based DCW acquires WEEE Disposal as part of major expansion plans

South West recycling firm DCW has acquired the assets of national electrical recycling company as part of its UK expansion plans.

Exeter- headquartered DCW acquired the assets of Somerset-based electrical recycling company South West Computer Recycling, trading as WEEE Disposal, after it went into liquidation.

The move means that DCW has taken on WEEE Disposal’s Wellington depot with 13 staff and its 800 clients.

The DCW business grew by 27% in 2021 with a turnover of £15million. It now operates from five locations across the South West including: Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton, St. Austell and now Wellington.

DCW Managing Director, Simon Almond, said: “Electronic waste is a major issue in the UK which needs to be tackled and we are delighted to be at the forefront of the challenge by offering our WEEE ( Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) recycling service nationally. Acquiring the assets of WEEE Disposal allows us to deliver our Zero to Landfill solution to companies nationwide and as far as Scotland. Integration of WEEE Disposal into the DCW operation allows us to enhance our proposition and is part of our strategic expansion nationally.”

Simon continued: “The UK is the second largest producer of WEEE in the world which is alarming. Electronic waste is not only incredibly valuable as it contains raw materials such as gold, silver and copper, but it’s also detrimental to the environment if it ends up in landfill. Our expansion will allow us to help even more companies recycle their WEEE responsibly, making a positive different to the rate of WEEE recycling in the UK.”
