Those with a passion for art and home decoration should mark their calendars for Saturday as "Decor+" will put under the hammer the works of famous artists from Thailand and overseas, starting at 2pm. The venue is River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24.
Organised by the Art Auction Center, a leading auction house, this is an exclusive art auction where precious art meets luxurious furniture, leaving an impressive beauty and adding value to every living space.
Art collectors will enjoy the richness of 156 art pieces in various styles, from contemporary to classic, abstract to realism and every style of art in between, by well-known artists.
Highlights include a collection of the earlier pieces of surrealist oil paintings by Chuang Moolpinit, a legendary artist who earned the title of Thailand's national artist of the year in 2013; and some rare works of the late Sawasdi Tantisuk inspired by Cubism, an art movement during his study in Italy.
They will be available for bidding alongside an oil painting with gold leaves on a red background by Thawan Duchanee; a rare earlier work of Kamol Tassananchalee; a crayon-on-paper draft of Wat Rong Khun by Chalermchai Kositpipat; and artwork by Basuki Abdullah, an artist from Indonesia who was invited to Thailand to be a royal court painter for King Rama IX.
The lots include works by famous artists from Thailand such as Alex Face, 2Choey and Benzilla, and international artists like Yoshitomo Nara and Todd James, not to mention vibrant and colourful artworks and art toys by up-and-coming and rising-star artists namely Gongkan, Pex, Molly, and Muebon.
All the pieces will be displayed with luxurious furniture brands imported and distributed by DMHome, which manages world-class brands such as Bottega Veneta, Fendi Casa, Kartell, Missoni Home, Ralph Lauren Home, Trussardi Casa, Roberto Cavalli Home and Gianfranco Ferre Home in Thailand.
They will be categorised into many zones to represent favourite corners and rooms in a house. The Balcony Bliss is a section of a room that overlooks the view from the outside. The art in this room is mainly landscape-type or nature related.
