A local councillor has said the approval of a community centre for the Culmore area was an important first step for the residents in the area.
Members of the planning committee on Derry City and Strabane District Council approved the application at a meeting this week.
The new facility will boast a social area, offices, changing rooms, toilets, stores, plant room and meeting rooms with amendments to the layout of the existing car park.
