The Welsh Ambulance service has issued an important warning to patients on Thursday, December 8.
All patients currently in a non life-threatening condition are being asked to make their own way to a hospital due to ambulance crews being overwhelmed with callouts.
Shortly before midnight Wales Ambulance Service tweeted: "We are exceptionally busy at the moment. If your emergency is not life-threatening you may be asked to make your own way to hospital. We must protect our precious resources for those that need it most."
With temperatures due to hit lows of -2 in some parts of Wales tonight people travelling to hospitals should take care on the roads as icy conditions are expected.
The influx of 999 calls to the service comes shortly after new UKHSA data showed Wales has a higher Strep A and Scarlet Fever infection rate than any area of England.
