In a matter of days, millions of phones across the country will sound a loud alarm as the Government carries out a nationwide test of a new public alert system.
The system will be used to inform people of life threatening situations if required - including severe flooding and fires.
The 'siren' will be received on 4G and 5G devices across the UK, with the alert sounding for 10 seconds along with a vibration. A message will also appear on phone screens to explain the test, with the message explaining the reason for the warning if used in the future.
