Exact date scorching temperatures to return as Met Office predicts blazing heat

Those who are fed up with the mild temperatures and heavy downpours won't have long to wait till the sun and scorching weather returns to the UK.

Parts of Scotland and the rest of the UK have been showered with heavy rain over the last couple of days - making many TRNSMT festival goers worry about the weekend weather, reports the Mirror.

Yellow weather warnings were put in place for heavy rain and winds for the east of England, but thankfully Scotland avoided any Met Office alerts. Now, those who are fed up with the unseasonal weather will perk up once they find out when the sun and scorching temperatures return.

The forecast for Friday, July 7 looks to rise significantly, with temperatures spiking at 21C in Glasgow - just in time for the first day of the TRNSMT festival.

By Saturday, July 8, the weather will hike up to a blazing 25C in Glasgow, so make sure and pack your sun cream if you are heading to the Green to soak up some music and sun.

Rain is also possible throughout the weekend however, with a 40 per cent chance of some brief downpours across the city. Sunday, July 9 will see highs of 20C in Glasgow, and some clouds forming by the time the evening arrives.

The capital will also be bathed in good weather this weekend, with highs of 22C across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and just a 30 per cent chance of rain on July 8.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "As we move towards the weekend we are expecting a brief hotter and more humid spell of weather to develop across parts of the UK.

"The main heat and humidity will be across England and Wales with temperatures peaking around 30C during Friday and Saturday.

"Scotland and Northern Ireland however will see some wet and occasionally windy weather move in though during Thursday and Friday.

"This weather system will then gradually work eastwards across the UK during the weekend introducing some cooler air by Sunday but ahead of this we are likely to see some heavy showers and thunderstorms break out."

According to BBC Weather, a weekend forecast for Glasgow is as follows: "Friday will be rather cloudy with rain and showers moving in from the south, mainly during the morning and dying out through the day.

"Trending warmer. Dry and sunny to start on Saturday. Turning wetter through the day, with heavy and thundery showers.

"Warm, with strengthening southerly winds. Largely overcast at first on Sunday with showers at times. Becoming sunnier later."
