Ireland could see temperatures of up to 32C in the coming days as a ‘mini-heatwave’ takes hold.
Some long-range weather models - which are subject to change - show the mercury hitting the low 30s in some areas of Ireland on Tuesday.
Met Eireann says it expects temperatures to reach “the mid 20s and possibly the high 20s in some places” on Sunday and Monday.

It has also not ruled out the possibility of a weather warning being issued, with a forecaster saying: “There is a chance that there could be some very warm or hot conditions and a combination of high day and night time temperatures could lead to a high temperature warning over next weekend and the early days of next week.”
Highs of 22C are forecast for today, with temperatures expected to get warmer each day before peaking on Tuesday.
Weather expert Alan O’Reilly shared details on his popular Carlow Weather Twitter account, writing: “Latest ECMWF model forecast for temperatures show up to 28C by Sunday, 30C Monday and possibly even as high as 32C on Tuesday!
“Also staying warm at night with a chance of a tropical night where it doesn’t go below 20C.”
It comes as much of Europe, including the UK, is experiencing heatwave conditions.
The UK Met Office has issued an ‘amber’ extreme heat warning covering much of England and Wales from Sunday into Tuesday.
Temperatures of up to 37C are forecast for some areas across the pond.
Ireland’s weather has not yet been declared a heatwave, as Met Eireann’s definition of one is five consecutive days of temperatures above 25C.

Wednesday - Highs of 22C
A post on the Met Eireann website reads: "Cloudiest this afternoon across Ulster and Connacht with scattered showers and occasional bright spells. Longer sunny spells across Leinster and Munster mixed with some cloud. The odd shower may drift into northern parts of Leinster and Munster during the evening.
"Highest temperatures ranging between 16C in the northwest and 22C in the southeast, in a light to moderate west to northwest breeze.
"Well scattered showers will continue in Ulster and Connacht tonight but elsewhere it will be dry with clear spells, clearest to the south. Lowest temperatures of 7C to 11C in a light westerly or variable breeze."
Thursday - Highs of 22C
The national forecaster continued: "Most areas will be dry with sunny spells tomorrow morning, although there will be a few showers in Ulster. It will generally become cloudier for the afternoon and evening and some showers will drift further south.
"Highest temperatures of 15C to 21C or 22C, warmest in the south, in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.
"Mostly cloudy overnight with scattered showers continuing, mainly over the northern half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 11C to 14C in light southwest to west or variable winds."
Friday - Highs of 23C
Met Eireann said: "Starting mostly cloudy with scattered light showers, but brightening up through the afternoon and evening with warm sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 18C to 23C generally, but cooler along north facing coasts due to a light to moderate north to northwest breeze.
"Dry night with long clear spells and isolated mist and fog. Lowest temperatures of 8C to 12C in a light and variable breeze."
Saturday - Highs of 25C
Looking ahead to the weekend, it added: "The morning will be dry with spells of hazy sunshine, however it will become cloudy at times during the afternoon and evening with isolated showers possible. Warm with highs of 20C to 25C in a light south to southeast breeze.
"Most areas dry with clear spells but staying cloudier in the northwest and north which will bring a few showers. Milder than previous nights with temperatures remaining above 12C to 15C."
Sunday and Monday - Temperatures of mid to high 20s
The State meteorological service said: "Dry with hazy sunshine and light winds. Very warm or hot as temperatures widely reach the mid-twenties and possibly the high twenties in some places."
