Over one million people can expect to receive a cost of living payment on April 24.
The lump sum was confirmed in addition to Budget 2023 by the Department of Social Protection and an estimated 1.3 million people are entitled to access it. Relevant groups for the payment include pensioners, carers, people with disabilities, lone parents, widows and widowers.
However, this list is non-exhaustive. Anyone in receipt of a long term social welfare payment is entitled to the sum, in line with cost of living concerns. The €200 sum is also being extended to those on the Working Family Payment who have not received the lump sum on their primary payment.
More supports are also on the way for families impacted by the cost of living crisis. Parents can expect a €100 boost to their child benefit payment in June, with the payment likely being issued on June 2 due to the bank holiday.
This payment forms part of a social protection package organised by the Government.
