West Ham United have confirmed the appointment of former Rangers technical director Nils Koppen as Director of Player Recruitment, subject to a work visa.
The 41-year-old Belgian was identified as the leading candidate following a recruitment process involving the club’s board and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
Koppen left Rangers in 2025 after being promoted from Head of Scouting to Technical Director during his time at Ibrox. He most recently held a senior recruitment role at FC Copenhagen.
Speaking to club media, Koppen said: “I am really pleased to have this fantastic opportunity and very much looking forward to joining such a big club and being a part of something new.
“The first focus will obviously be the transfer window and identifying the correct players to move us forward next season. We also want to keep the core squad intact.

“They had a very good run at the end of the Premier League season, so if we can keep that together and not make too many changes, we can start off with a good base.
