Ex-Rangers players Charlie Miller, Gordon Durie and Marvin Andrews raise over £16,000 with fans in charity walk

Former Rangers stars Charlie Miller, Gordon Durie and Marvin Andrews have helped to raise over £16,000 with a group of pubgoers from Blantyre.

The trio joined forces with the Rangers fans to walk from Ibrox back to their regular, the Stonefield Tavern on Glasgow Road, in aid of Glasgow charity the Emmie Smillie Foundation.

The event saw the group walk 10.3 miles in three hours, followed by a fundraiser in the bar, which gained a mammoth £16,182 for the cancer focused charity formed by the Smillie family in 2016 after the passing of the Emmie, who tragically lost her life to cancer the year before. She was just 34 years old.

The aim of the foundation is to fund several cancer charities across Glasgow and the west, and in the past they have supported the likes of the Kilbryde Hospice in East Kilbride with huge financial donations.

Stan Gordon, owner of the Stonefeld Tavern, which is also known as Teddies bar, told Lanarkshire Live: "I would like to thank everyone that took part by either walking from Ibrox to the bar or those who dug deep and sponsored this worthwhile cause.

"It was truly an amazing effort from our pub regulars and Blantyre locals. A big thanks to our friends Charlie, Gordon and Marvin aswell for taking part and joining us in our efforts."
