Football star Duncan Ferguson has taken on a new role plugging vegan croissants to fans.
Big Dunc is starring in a promotional video for French bakery brand La Boulangere. The firm supplies food to English League One side Forest Green Rovers, who Ferguson became manager of in January.
The ex-Rangers, Everton, Dundee United and Scotland star said he would try to go vegan after joining the side who do not use animal products and have been recognised by Fifa and the UN as the world’s greenest club.
In the clip, set to French music, Stirling-born Ferguson, 51, says: “Hi there, big Duncan Ferguson here from Forest Green.
“Look what I’ve got. I’ve got some lovely vegan croissants called La Boulangere. I think that’s how you pronounce it.
“They’re fantastic and if you keep eating one of these a day you will look like me in the end.”
After taking a bite, he declares: “That’s very nice. I think I will take them home with me and have them for my tea tonight.
“La Boulangere – it’s tasty no matter how you say it and believe me it’s very difficult to say it.”
The tongue-in-cheek video features an on screen message telling fans how to properly pronounce the name of the brand.
