Former Rangers flop Carlos Pena is set to complete a remarkable turnaround from being set to quit the game to clinching a move to the mega-bucks Saudi Arabian league alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Mexican midfielder announced he was set to quit the game in December after being thrown on the football scrapheap at the age of 32.
He had a disastrous spell at Ibrox after then-manager Pedro Caixinha splashed out £3 million on him five years ago.
His Rangers contract was eventually terminated by mutual consent in February 2019 after two loan spells in Mexico blighted by alcohol problems.
Since then, he had a stint in Poland where he didn't kick a ball with GKS Tychy, before returning to Mexico with three different clubs.
He then signed for obscure clubs in El Salvador and Guatemala before ending up in Honduras with CD Vida, where he was released last year and announced he was considering retirement.
But he was handed a lifeline by UAE second tier club, Sharjah-based Al Dhaid in January. And he's impressed so much, he now looks set to join the money-laden league in Saudi Arabia.
Gullit's agent, Morris Pagniello, said: "He played so well this season that we are now exploring other options for him, including clubs in Saudi Arabia.
"And it's not only Saudi Arabia, but there are many other clubs in countries like Qatar, Bahrain and Oman who want to sign him.
"The market has opened up for him and he deserves it because he was away from football for five months.
"He has enjoyed an incredible career and he still has a lot to give."
Pena made just six league starts during his time at Ibrox, but the 19-times capped Mexican World Cup midfielder is set to join the exodus to the Saudi Pro League, where the likes of Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will play.
