Ayr United have signed former Rangers defender Leon King on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at the Scottish Championship side from Rangers.

He made more than 30 appearances for the Honest Men and won the end-of-season awards for Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

This was enough to earn the defender a permanent two-year deal at Somerset Park, which will run until June 2028.

On their website, Ayr United said: "The club are delighted to announce the signing of 22-year-old defender Leon King on a two-year deal until June 2028, subject to SFA approval.

King made 42 appearances in all competitions for Rangers, making his debut under Steven Gerrard in a League Cup match against Falkirk.

Aside from his spell at Ayr, he also spent time on loan at Queen's Park last year.
