Ex Prince Andrew’s Arrest Prompts Trump Statement & Sarah Ferguson Quietly Shutting 6 Companies

Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor has been released under investigation after his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, as police continue to probe allegations linked to his dealings with Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that a man in his sixties from Norfolk was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, in a case linked to allegations he shared confidential information with Epstein while serving as a UK trade envoy.

In a statement, the force said: “On Thursday we arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrested man has now been released under investigation. We can also confirm that our searches in Norfolk have now concluded.”

Police searches at his former home, Royal Lodge in Windsor, Berkshire, are reportedly ongoing. Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, while expressing regret about their association.

Meanwhile, six companies linked to Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson — also known as Fergie — are being closed as new details of her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein emerge and her ex‑husband Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor faces a criminal investigation.

Filings with the UK’s Companies House show that applications were lodged this month to strike six Ferguson‑connected firms from the register: S. Phoenix Events Limited, Fergie’s Farm, La Luna Investments, Solamoon Limited, Philanthrepreneur Limited and Planet Partners Productions Limited.

Ferguson, 66, is listed as the sole director of each, and PEOPLE reports that no creditors are understood to be owed money. Public records describe S. Phoenix Events as working in public relations and communications and Fergie’s Farm as a retail business, while the activities of the other companies are not clearly detailed. CNN reporting indicates that S. Phoenix Events filed to be struck off on 13 February, with the other five companies following on 16 February.

The closures come in the shadow of the latest release of US Epstein files, which include emails suggesting Ferguson and Andrew kept in contact with Epstein after his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. In one 2009 email, Ferguson thanked Epstein for apparently helping with brand deals, writing: “In just one week, after your lunch, it seems the energy has lifted. I have never been more touched by a friends kindness than your compliment to me in front of my girls. Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for.”

In another message from 2010 she said she “desperately” needed money and suggested he could hire her as his house assistant. The DoJ has released emails in which she apparently told him, “I am at your service. Just marry me”, and later wrote that it was “soooo crystal clear” he had only been friends with her “to get to Andrew”, something she said had hurt her “deeeply (sic)”.

Ferguson’s public and professional life has already taken several hits as this material has come out. Her charity Sarah’s Trust announced it would close “for the foreseeable future” after months of discussion, following earlier releases from the files. The BBC has reported that at least six charities, including Teenage Cancer Trust, cut ties with her or revoked patronages in 2025, and a planned children’s book was later scrapped, with thousands of copies pulped.

The story has already drawn in voices well outside the UK.

US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One: “I’m the expert in a way because I’ve been totally exonerated so I can speak about it … I think it’s a shame. I think it’s very sad. I think it’s so bad for the royal family. It’s very, very sad. To me, it’s a very sad thing. When I see that, it’s a very sad thing … To see that and to see everything that’s going on with his brother, who is coming to our country very soon, the king … so I think it’s a very sad thing.”

Speaking about himself, Trump went on to say he was the one who “can talk about it” because he is “totally exonerated”, adding: “I did nothing”. His comments came ahead of King Charles’ planned visit to the US in April.

Maria Farmer, the first known survivor to report Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to law enforcement, has also responded to Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor’s arrest.

“Today is just the beginning of accountability and justice brought forth by Virginia Roberts Giuffre — a young mother who adored her daughter so deeply, she fought the most powerful on earth to protect her,” she said in a statement.

“She did this for everyone’s daughters. Let’s now demand all the dominos of power and corruption begin to fall.”

As things stand, Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor could face further interviews or potential charges as the police continue their work.
