Aside from the national championship he won in 2014, former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones is perhaps best remembered for his now-iconic tweet about the struggles of being a college athlete trying to juggle academics and athletics. On Sunday, he harkened back to that viral moment to create another one.
After reports surfaced that former Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett—who enrolled at Georgia in 2017 and led the program to back-to-back national titles in ’21 and ’22—has not yet obtained his college degree, Jones weighed in to deliver a very on-brand zinger that called back to his 2012 tweet in which he famously wrote, “We ain’t come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS.”
Buddy definitely wasn’t playing school! https://t.co/uuNoKDxkOf

Bennett spent six years in college, and, according to Colin Gay of The Columbus Dispatch, he was not listed in Georgia’s 2023 spring commencement program. He also wasn’t featured in a Twitter post of Georgia football graduates following the winter ’22 semester.
On his Georgia athletics profile, his major is listed as learning design and technology.
Jones eventually got his Ohio State degree in 2017, so Bennett won’t need to look far for examples of how it’s certainly never too late to finish what’s been started.
