Ex-Nickolodeon star who rubbed shoulders with Ariana Grande now lives in Liverpool

An ex-Nickolodeon star who now lives in Liverpool is looking to make his name in another industry with help from his friends.

Brad Kavanagh is best known for his time in the children's mystery drama House of Anubis which ran for three seasons and came to an end almost 10 years ago, but he is now making a career with indie-pop band Flynt. The 29-year-old turned his hand to music a number of years ago but found himself parting ways with music label Warner after he left children's television network Nickelodeon and found himself adrift.

He teamed up with a primary school teacher Emma as co-vocalist and soon enough a band of misfits was formed called Flynt. Brad, originally from Whitehaven in Cumbria who now lives in Liverpool City Centre, told the ECHO how he used to spend time his breaks and spare time with the likes of Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers while working for Disney before leaving to join Nickolodeon where he would then spend his spare time mixing with the likes of Ariana Grande.

He said: "It's funny because it was surreal to a point and then you realise that you're part of a community of people and there are other people just like you. There were a lot of lessons learned and there were people who I used to work with who are now doing massive things like selling out arenas. It was mad to be around the likes of Ariana Grande. She was so talented."

Brad now spends his days with his band mates, Emma, Steven and Calvin, as they travel across the UK performing in different venues, with the former teen TV star wanting to move away from the television screen to the music studio where he can embrace his more creative side. He said: "Flynt is proper special to me. It came about at Nickolodeon and by looking at the likes of Ariana Grande so I started singing while I was there.

"I signed under Warner but one thing led to another and we mutually decided it wasn't the best after 18 months. It wasn't working and then I moved back to the Lakes. I didn't want to go back to acting and wanted to manage things myself.

"I used to play gigs everywhere and people thought it was odd that I then started to play in wine bars in the Lakes to make a living but I loved it. I then met Emma and Steven and it just made sense to start the band because we all loved the same music and the same artists."

Flynt has now recently released a new single as Brad, Emma, Steven and Calvin look to push on with the band.
