Former Newcastle United striker Peter Lovenkrands has stepped down as boss of Danish first Division side Fremad. The 42-year-old, who spent three years in the north east, eased the Danish outfit to safety after initially finishing in 11th position.
Fremad were then placed into the relegation group, finishing in fourth spot, staving off survival by an eventual five points. Having previously worked with Scottish Premiership side Rangers before venturing into management on his own, Lovenkrands took to social media to thank the players, staff, fans and everyone involved at the club.

Posting a short statement on Instagram, he said: "The last season at Fremad has been extremely challenging both on and off the pitch.
"However, I’m very proud of the players and the staff on how they conducted themselves throughout the season, supported me and obviously delighted that we collectively managed to secure our position in the division.
"It was a very satisfying end to the season. After much and careful consideration and talking it through with my family and the club, I have decided to leave the club and pass the baton on to someone else to lead the club next season and in to a new chapter.
"I would like to place on record my thanks to the club for giving me the opportunity and thank all the players, staff and the fans whom have all supported me so brilliantly throughout the season during some very difficult circumstances.
"I wish Fremad all the very best for the future."
