Former Newcastle United midfielder Regan Thomson has left Hamilton Accies without kicking a ball for the club.
The 19-year-old, who also played for Queen's Park before heading down south, signed for the Championship club in August, and was described by boss John Rankin as having "bags of potential".
However, he was struggling to prove his fitness and had to undergo effectively a pre-season with the club before he was able to play.
And this morning the New Douglas Park club issued a statement saying: "Midfielder Regan Thomson, 19, has departed the club having joined us in August but had not appeared for us.
"He leaves with our good wishes."
Thomson started his career at Queen's Park and made the breakthrough to their first-team in 2019, but was then snapped up by Newcastle, where he made his way through their under-18s and under-23s, but didn't make the step up.
Newcastle beat Celtic and Rangers to Thomson in 2020, signing him on a two-and-a-half year deal from Queen's Park, but the move didn't work out, as it now seemingly hasn't done at Accies.
