Ex-MPCA secretary Milind Kanmadikar passes away

MUMBAI: Former Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association secretary Milind Kanmadikar passed away in Indore on Sunday. He was 65. He is survived by his wife Suphala, and two sons, Prasoon and Naval.

"He had come to watch the India versus Afghanistan T20I at the Holkar Stadium (on January 14 in Indore). While returning from the match, he suffered a minor accident near his residence. He couldn't recover from it, and passed away today morning," an MPCA official told TOI.

Kanmadikar was the MPCA secretary from 2014-19, and before that, the joint secretary for two years. An MPCA life member, he had also worked as the liasoning officer during the 2011 World Cup.

His father Anant Kanmadikar was the secretary of the BCCI when India famously won the 1983 World Cup under Kapil Dev's captaincy. A young Milind watched India upsetting the mighty West Indies by 43 runs in the final at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground from the member's stand.

"He was an ardent cricket lover. He was very much dedicated towards contributing to MP's cricket and MPCA," MPCA CEO Rohit D Pundit told this paper from Indore.
