Real Madrid will reportedly make RB Leipzig and Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol their main priority, according to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Alfredo Pedulla. Gvardiol has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona.
However, Real Madrid are set to launch a €90 million bid in order to beat the growing competition to his signature.
Leeds United were involved in a tug-of-war with RB Leipzig when the Croatian defender was just 18 years of age in the summer of 2020.
RB Leipzig offered him the opportunity to return to Dinamo Zagreb on loan before joining up with the Bundesliga outfit at the start of the 2021-22 season.
This agreement appeared to persuade Gvardiol to choose the Red Bulls over a move to Elland Road, as he conceded that he wasn't ready to play in the Premier League.
Gvardiol has since gone onto star regularly for RB Leipzig both in the Bundesliga and Champions League, and is now showcasing his talent at the World Cup.
The defender has been one of the standout stars in Qatar and has helped Croatia reach the quarter-finals of the tournament with a string of impressive displays.
