Ex-Leeds United talisman Raphinha 'set' for Premier League return as Chelsea and Arsenal on alert

In an incredible turn of events, former Leeds United winger Raphinha could be on his way back to England and the Premier League, just months after completing a deal reportedly worth £50 million which saw him join Spanish giants Barcelona.

It's been no secret that the Brazilian international hasn't enjoyed his time in Spain and a move which was originally supposed to be 'a dream' for the 26-year-old has not turned out that way so far.

He's managed to score just twice in his 18 appearances for the Catalunya side since swapping Elland Road for the Nou Camp with his form being a main reason as to why the Spanish giants are reportedly willing to let him go so early on into his contract.

According to Spanish outlet Sport , the club are looking for him to make a return back to the Premier League after French star Ousmane Dembele has overshadowed the Brazilian - shown in Raphinha's playing time taking a significant drop over the past five matches.

That wasn't enough for former Brazilian national team manager Tite to overlook him though as he was selected as part of the World Cup squad - but despite playing significant minutes across the tournament, he was unable to get involved in any of the goals.

It's believed that Barcelona head coach Xavi has been constantly pressing Raphinha to right his biggest wrong out in Spain- his ability to get past defenders in one-on-one situations but he's been unable to do so efficiently enough for their liking.

With Sport continuing to say that there's 'a market in the Premier' for the 26-year-old, both the Sun and the Mirror namedrop London clubs Chelsea and Arsenal.

Of course, the Blues had originally sent in a reported bid worth £55 million which Leeds had quickly accepted in the summer, before Barca came in with a contesting offer at which point Raphinha had already made his mind up.

Now they could be back for unfinished business - and could get him even cheaper this time if the Spaniards are desperate enough to let him go.

Many Whites fans will be wondering whether a potential return to Elland Road is on the cards, but it seems highly unlikely. Even if Barcelona asked for the £50 million they originally paid in the summer, that's over £20m more than their most expensive signing ever in Brenden Aaronson (according to footballtransfers.com).

Whether Raphinha ends up staying out in Spain or indeed making a sudden switch back to England, Leeds fans will no doubt stay up-to-date with all the latest surrounding their old talisman that gave them so many good memories over the few seasons he was with the club.
