Barcelona are yet to register any of their new signings, including former Leeds United winger Raphinha, ahead of their opening La Liga fixture against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday. Raphinha joined Barcelona from Leeds for an initial fee in excess of £50m with a further £5m subject to conditions being met. Leeds also inserted a penalty clause into their contract with Barcelona, which will force extra funds from the La Liga side if they fail to pay up before an agreed date.
The Brazilian international impressed during pre-season – scoring two goals and providing three assists, including a long-range rocket against Real Madrid, which proved to be the winning goal.
Nonetheless, as it stands, Barcelona don’t meet La Liga’s financial fair play criteria and have been unable to register Raphinha along with defenders Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde, midfielder Franck Kessie and forward Robert Lewandowski.
