Lee Bowyer has labelled the 'special times' at Leeds United as the favourite of his career as a player. Bowyer spent six-and-a-half years at Elland Road and established himself as a firm fan favourite during his time with the club.
The 45-year-old scored 51 goals across 256 appearances for Leeds and was apart of a side that enjoyed some extremely memorable nights together. The Whites secured five consecutive top five finishes in the Premier League in the late 1990's and early 2000's, while also reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Bowyer is still fondly remembered as one of Leeds' best players during the Premier League era thanks to his ability to score from midfield. Speaking on talkSPORT, Bowyer claimed the atmosphere of Elland Road Champions League nights were indescribable, before revealing how his former assistant at Charlton Athletic labelled Leeds as his 'second team' after going to a game together a few years ago.

"I'd have to say Leeds, the team we had at that time was a very good, young and exciting team that played on the front foot and didn't fear anybody. Like the message came in earlier about the AC Milan game, we had no right on paper to compete against these sides and we ended up getting to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
"The atmosphere Jim, I couldn't tell you, a bit like for me at home watching the World Cup, the Argentinian fans and how passionate they were. Elland Road on a Tuesday, Wednesday night in the Champions League, they were special times.
"The way they pushed you on, they got behind you. Win, lose or draw Jim they would still sing and sing and sing, and push and help you right until the final whistle and no matter what minute - first, 45, 90, they're still behind you.
"I took Johnnie Jackson my assistant when I was at Charlton to a game when we were playing locally. They were playing against West Brom and they won 4-0 when they were in the Championship. It was full house and the atmosphere was unreal.
"Johnnie Jackson said - he's an Arsenal fan, 'Leeds is my second team'. The atmosphere is frightening there, when they are on it like the time I was just saying, they're on it. It's some place to go and play."
