Former employees of JSL Global Media have been fully compensated for their work under an order issued by the Labour Protection and Welfare Office, worth 28 million baht in total.
Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin on Wednesday went to the Labour Protection and Welfare Office Region 4 to congratulate the ex-staff who were abruptly laid off without fair compensation in July.
Mr Suchart said they filed complaints with the employment compensation fund because they were offered only 16% of what they were entitled to receive under domestic labour laws. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare (DLPW) has now paid the final 1.3 million baht of that outstanding amount to 74 workers.
The Department Of Employment is also offering positions and barista and bakery training for laid-off workers, Mr Suchart said. The Social Security Office (SSO) also paid the former workers 636,376 baht last month. They will also receive monthly grants for the next six months.
On Aug 26 the company paid 60% of the due compensation to 83 workers totalling 16.8 million baht after the Labour Protection and Welfare Office Region 4 issued an order.
