Former Irish League ace Darren Murphy voiced his pride after watching son Harry make his first start for Portadown on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old defender was included in Paul Doolin's starting XI for a big clash against title contenders Glentoran at Shamrock Park, helping the Ports to a 1-1 draw.
It was only Harry's second appearance this season, his first coming back in August as a late substitute against Crusaders.
His father Darren - now a coach at Crusaders - started off his Irish League at Portadown before having spells with club's including Glenavon, Linfield, Dungannon Swifts and Ballymena United.
Darren shared a photo of Portadown's starting line-up last night, and said: "An extremely proud father tonight as my son Harry Murphy makes his first start for Portadown tonight. Well done kiddo."
Portadown snatched a late point thanks to Oisin Conaty's 91st-minute equaliser against 10-man Glentoran.
Despite having Patrick McClean sent off, the Glens had taken the lead in the 85th minute thanks to Conor McMenamin's goal.
The result saw Linfield leapfrog Glentoran at the top of the table, while Portadown remain in 11th spot, nine points adrift of safety.
Portadown's official Twitter account tweeted: "What a first Premiership start for Harry Murphy, up against the league leaders & the Premiership's most in form striker in Jay Donnelly & never put a foot wrong with Glentoran replacing Donnelly after 80 minutes Composed & maturity beyond his years, the future's bright for Harry."
One fan said: "What a performance from this lad. Absolutely superb at the back. No bigger challenge than marking Donnelly. Looking forward to a more prominent role from Harry in the future."
Another added: "Outstanding never looked out of place and I would have gave him motm for an immense performance."
And Des tweeted: "Chip of the old block . If he’s as good as the auld fella and a decent genuine guy like him, then he’ll go a long long way . Best wishes Harry."
