Adrian Aviles, the ex husband of Regina Ann Santos Aviles, the woman who committed suicide after allegedly having an affair with Rep. Tony Gonzales, warned the lawmaker that he could release more lewd texts from him.
Speaking on CNN, Aviles said he doesn't care "about the political matter behind" the scandal, which has prompted several lawmakers, including Republicans, to call for him to leave Congress.

"I care about facts and what he's done and how he's continued to lie under Regina's name. He's ball face lied about it. I would bet that Tony Gonzales does not want me to release all of the messages that show how gross of a man he is," he added.
Gonzales has accused Aviles of trying to "blackmail" him, saying that he and his lawyer were seeking $300,000 for a non-disclosure agreement to refrain from filing a civil action that could damage his career.
Aviles rejected the notion, saying that Gonzales "abused his power" and "should have held himself to a higher standard as a congressional leader."
Authorities said Santos-Aviles poured gasoline on herself outside her home on September 13, 2025, and died the next day at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. The Bexar County Medical Examiner ruled her death a suicide, and police said surveillance video showed she was alone and that there was no evidence of foul play.
Aviles said he discovered the alleged relationship in May 2024 when he saw his wife texting Gonzales and later found messages he described as "very sexual in nature." He said the relationship had lasted two to three weeks at that point. Aviles said he later contacted Gonzales and members of his staff to say he knew about the relationship and intended to make it public, after which, he claimed, his wife was marginalized at work.
Aviles ended up releasing the texts, which which detail that Gonzales asked Santos Aviles for "sexy" pictures of her and asked her about her favorite sexual positions.
Gonzales has refused to resign, saying: "I work every day for the people of Texas." "What you've seen are not all the facts," he added on Tuesday.
In this context, Gonzales is trailing his opponent in the GOP primary in Texas' 23rd district by more than 20 points.
The New York Post detailed that Gonzales would get just 21% of the support from likely voters in the March 3 primary, where he will face YouTuber and firearms enthusiast Brandon Herrera.
