The XFL officially announced the group of head coaches who will lead their eight teams when the league returns in 2023. Among them is former New York Giants defensive back Terrell Buckley.
Buckley, who joins the likes of Jim Haslett, Wade Phillips and Bob Stoops, will coach the Orlando franchise.
Terrell Buckley was previously at the University of Mississippi, where he spent two years as the Cornerbacks Coach. He is a 13-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl XXXVI Champion, who was selected fifth overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 1992 draft and went on to play for the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, New York Jets and New York Giants.
As noted, Buckley was selected fifth overall by the Packers in 1992 and spent the first three seasons of his career in Green Bay. After that, he became a bit of a journeyman. His final career stop came in East Rutherford, having spent the 2004 season with the Jets and the 2005 season with the Giants.
In 209 career games, Buckley recorded 546 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 154 passes defensed, 50 interceptions and six touchdowns.
Following his retirement from the NFL, Buckley got into coaching at the college level. He held various roles at Florida State before making stops at Akron, Louisville, Mississippi State and, most recently, Ole Miss.
