The Atlanta Falcons waived safety Jaylinn Hawkins on Tuesday but it didn’t take long for the former fourth-round pick to find a new home. Hawkins, 26, has been claimed the Los Angeles Chargers, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.
According to Rapoport, multiple teams attempted to claim Hawkins, who started 16 games for the Falcons in 2022.

The Falcons have since signed safety Micah Abernathy off the practice squad to take Hawkins’ place on the 53-man roster. The team also added two players to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Releasing Hawkins freed up roughly $1.7 million in cap space for Atlanta, bringing their current total up to $7.6 million, per Over The Cap’s projections.
