A former Emmerdale star whose character is still often mentioned has a very famous wife which may come as a surprise to some fans of the show.
James Thornton, 45, played John Barton in Emmerdale between 2009 and 2012. During his time working on the Yorkshire soap John Barton had a number of big storylines.
John died in a car crash in the soap, while he was driving down a country lane with wife Moira. In a recent episode, Moira revealed photos of John are still kept on the stairs at their home - Butler's farm.

In real life, James is married to Gavin and Stacey title star, Joanna Page. She is known to millions as Stacey in the hit BBC sitcom, reports Leeds Live.
Joanna, 45, recently gave birth to their fourth child, a little girl called Boe Willow Russell. They already have daughter Eva, seven, and two sons; Kit, five, and Noah, four.
John and Joanna both worked together back in the 1990s, as they both appeared in the BBC adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel, David Copperfield. James starred as Ham Peggotty and Joanna played the role of Dora Spenlow.
Since leaving Emmerdale, James has appeared in TV shows Stella and Franke while he also had a part in film The Last Witch alongside former Coronation Street favourite Katherine Kelly.
