Football fans in Kerala were in for a surprise on Wednesday when they learned that former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel had landed in Kochi. Though he had kept his arrival low-key, Tuchel was spotted by the fans at the Cochin International airport who were quick to ask him for an early morning selfie to which the acclaimed coach obliged. He later proceeded to Nattika, Thrissur.
Though there are a lot of speculations surrounding Tuchel's Kerala visit, it is learnt that the German is in the state for rejuvenation at an ayurveda centre.
He had revived Chelsea's stuttering campaign in Premier League last year when he took over from Frank Lampard and guided the club to a Champions League triumph and helped them finish fourth in the Premier League.
But with ownership changing hands at Chelsea, the club's new boss Todd Boehly in a surprise move last month removed Tuchel from the managerial job following their defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League group stage, leaving the 49-year-old 'devastated'.
