Ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel's stance on Aston Villa job revealed after Steven Gerrard sacking

Thomas Tuchel has another chance to make a swift return to the Premier League just six weeks after being sacked as Chelsea manager.

The German is open to entering management straight away despite the stresses of his 18-month stay at Stamford Bridge and his departure from SW6 hasn't put off potential suitors. Tuchel was replaced by Graham Potter in the hot seat after a poor start to the season following a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and a breakdown in relationships with the new co-owners.

Clubs across Europe and two Premier League sides have already reportedly been turned down by the 49-year-old, but the upcoming winter World Cup break offers a new chance for clubs to make managerial changes that could open up Tuchel's options.

The latest job to lend itself to Tuchel's name is Aston Villa after Steven Gerrard was sacked following a 3-0 defeat away to Fulham last night (October 20). Chelsea themselves dented Gerrard's standing, beating the Villans 2-0 on Sunday thanks to a brace from Mason Mount.

The loss at Craven Cottage, which included a red card, penalty, own-goal and cameo from former Chelsea winger Willian, leaves Villa 17th in the league. They are three places above Nottingham Forest who had also sounded out Tuchel as a potential replacement for Steve Cooper earlier this month after a poor start to the season.

Tuchel's swift response to Forest led to Cooper getting a new contract. Villa also had Tuchel on their shortlist alongside former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino, but the German is not keen on taking the role, according to the Telegraph's Matt Law.

Law tweeted: "Any attempt by Aston Villa to speak with Thomas Tuchel over their vacant job will be met with a polite ‘no’. He’s not interested - even if big wages and money on offer."

Tuchel will now be waiting for other options to open up across Europe with pressure at Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona.
