Ex-Celtic star Olivier Ntcham in stunning turn and finish as he plays key role in Swansea City win

Olivier Ntcham showed his class for Swansea City as he played a starring role for the English Championship side.

The former Celtic midfielder notched a goal and an assist as Russell Martin's men ran out winners over Bristol City. A long ball out of defence struck the 27-year-old on the back, but he was quick to react and adjust his body shape. He then controlled the ball and played a reverse pass into the path of Liam Cullen who expertly fired across the face of goal and into the net.

Ntcham then produced a piece of magic for the hosts' second goal of the game as he received a pass deep in his own half. He started driving towards the City backline before playing the ball wide to his team-mate. His cross was knocked down to the midfielder on the edge of the area and after a stunning turn to get away from an opponent, he fired a low effort into the net.

Speaking about the result, former Rangers defender and Swansea City boss Russell Martin told the official club website: "There is a lot of pride and gratitude for how the players played,” said the Swans head coach.

“I think the performance on Tuesday at Millwall – even though we lost – set us up well for today. The lads rose in confidence as the game went on Tuesday night, and we have been building over the last few games and getting back to where we want to be.

“Today, we got what we deserved, and that was important, particularly because of the game it is, the run we have been on and the international break coming up.

“It would have been a difficult couple of weeks, so I am really pleased they were able to play with that courage and intensity.

“We showed a real desire and energy, in a game under tough circumstance, and I think that will be so important for us and so big moving forward.

“We cannot get carried away with one win, we need to build on that now. It gives us a really positive place to build from and I think it will relax a few people and that will do us the world of good moving forward.

“The players are fighting, they are working so hard and running so hard for each other and we defended with real bravery throughout the game.”

Victory leaves Swansea sitting 16th in the second tier standings with eight games to play. They sit ten points above the relegation places as they target a positive run of results until the end of the season.
