Liverpool wonderkid Ben Doak has pulled out of Scotland Under 21s' double-header in Spain this week after his sickening head knock last week.
The former Celtic winger became the youngest-ever scorer for the Under 21s when he netted on his debut in Northern Ireland in September and would have been a key man for Scot Gemmill's side's games against Sweden and Wales, ahead of their Euro 2025 qualifying campaign which starts in Spain in September.
But the 17-year-old, who has made five first-team appearances for Liverpool this campaign, suffered a concerning head blow only minutes into Liverpool Under-19s' 1-0 loss to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Youth League last week.
Although he recovered, he was absent from Liverpool Under 21s' weekend win against Blackburn Rovers as a precaution and has withdrawn from the games in San Pedro del Pinatar on Thursday against Sweden and Sunday against Wales.
Commenting on Doak's condition after the injury blow Liverpool youth coach Barry Lewtas said: "Ben is okay. He obviously couldn't continue but our medical staff got to him quickly.
"He was on the pitch at the end with the lads and we will keep him closely monitored."
Fulham defender Connor McAvoy, has also pulled out after picking up an injury on loan at Partick Thistle.
Manchester City's former Celtic midfielder Josh Adam and Fulham’s Kieron Bowie - currently on loan at English League Two side Northampton Town - have been called up as replacements.
