An ex-burglar has revealed the £5 item which would deter him from targeting certain houses - and homeowners can easily get their hands on one.
The anonymous man claims he would avoid houses with a 'beware of dogs ' sign on display out front.
Stating how signs with 'big dogs' such as German shepherds or Rottweilers pictured on them are most effective, he says homeowners don't even need to have a dog to be able to install a sign.
