Ex BBC host quizzed by police after woman claims she was sexually assaulted on London set of his show

A former BBC host has been quizzed by police following allegations a woman was sexually assaulted on the London set of his show.

The household name was questioned regarding a complaint related to unwanted sexual touching, the Sun reported.

A source told the newspaper that the unnamed star “completely and utterly refutes” the allegations, which are alleged to have taken place 20 years ago.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the force was “investigating a report of sexual assault against a woman which took place in Stratford between September 2005 and December 2006”.

The ex presenter is understood to have been interviewed on May 14 and has not been arrested.

“He’s co-operated and went in for the interview under caution at an arranged time and place,” a source told the Sun.

“The alleged victim now lives outside London and her case was referred to the Met from an outside force, which caused a bit of a delay.

“The claims are linked to his time working on the show and she’s believed to have either worked with him or been a contestant. Police have taken her complaint very seriously.”

A Met Police spokesman added: “On Thursday, May 14, a man was interviewed under caution.

“We remain in contact with the woman, and she continues to be supported by officers. Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.”

The BBC said it would not comment on a live police investigation, adding that the man accused had worked for an independent production company at the time of the alleged assault.

The investigation comes after radio DJ Scott Mills was sacked by the British broadcaster in March over allegations of sexual offences against a boy under 16.

Former MasterChef star Gregg Wallace was also fired last summer over inappropriate behaviour.

Multiple members of staff, including freelancers, had made complaints regarding his behavior on and off set.

Huw Edwards, the former News at 10 presenter, was also axed. He received a six-month suspended jail sentence after admitting three counts of making indecent images of children in September 2024.
