Ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas outlines Premier League ambition after Como transfer

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has outlined his ambition to manage in the Premier League in the future. The Spaniard spent 12-years playing in England with over 300 appearances for the two London clubs, making him no stranger to the division and what it holds.

It comes after the 35-year-old left French side AS Monaco as a free agent, having played there for three-years following his exit from Chelsea. The midfielder now has a new journey to embark on, with a trip to Italy with Serie B side Como.

Fabregas signed a two-year deal with the club and has also become part-owner, as confirmed by another former Blues star Dennis Wise. The ex-midfielder works as chief executive for Como and speaking to the Mirror about the move for the ex-Spain international, he said: "He owns part of the club, he's a shareholder, that's what Cesc wants to get involved in.

"He'll be here a lot longer than expected really. It was important, he felt that way, to be part of it going forward long-term. He could see what we're trying to achieve at this football club. There's a lot more to be done at the football club regarding where we want to end up, in Serie A. He sees it as a good opportunity and I'm pleased he's on board."

While Fabregas has his sights focused on the next step with his new club, he has already put some thought towards life after a playing career. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "When I become a coach, as I have said, the Premier League has been my league, it is where I played my best football, my best years, where people respect me so much.

"I feel really loved in England and, in the future, I would love [to coach there], why not? I'd love to [be a Premier League manager], 100%. If I can look at a target in some years to come, then definitely, this is in my head."

It remains to be seen whether he could follow the path of someone such as Mikel Arteta, who went to manage Arsenal after his playing days were over. However, that may be one to keep an eye for further down the line.
