Ewan McGregor wants Star Wars character he 'loved' working with to return

Ewan McGregor has hinted at a possible return of a Star Wars character he 'loved' working with.

McGregor has been promoting his new show Obi Wan Kenobi, now streaming on Disney+, as he revealed in a recent interview he would put a word in to get Jar Jar Binks back for a project.

The Scottish actor is set to face off against infamous Star Wars villain Darth Vader in the new series, but Jar Jar is the character he would really like to work with again.

"I'd like to meet Jar Jar again," McGregor shared with Vanity Fair about characters he'd want to meet.

"I loved working with Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks. Maybe we can bring him back."

When McGregor's new Disney+ prequel show was announced, former co-star Best was one of the first to congratulate the Scots actor.

"Congrats my friends. Looking forward to seeing all these wonderful artists on screen," Best tweeted in response to the official announcement that the series had started production.

Despite his well wishes, dedicated fans still had hope Best could return to the series before he shut down the speculation.

In response to a fan, he said: "Thanks for the love, but I will not be in this series. As much as I would've loved to be a part of it. But I'm ecstatic to see folks who I love dearly back together doing great things."

Now, in a recent interview with IMDb, McGregor was probed about the return of Jar Jar Binks seeing as he is an executive producer on the show.

He responded: "Oh I’m sure, yeah! I could probably talk to somebody. But he doesn’t pop up in this one, sadly."

Best's portrayal of Binks might not be in the latest Star Wars instalment, but the door might still be open for a return.
