In a recent panel at MegaCon in Orlando, Ewan McGregor regaled fans with tales of his covert trips to Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The actor, who has portrayed the iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi since 1999, revealed that he and his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead have gone incognito to explore the beloved theme park section.
During their visits, McGregor and Winstead opted for anonymity by donning caps and venturing out at night. For the most part, they successfully flew under the radar. However, McGregor jokingly acknowledged that some eagle-eyed Star Wars enthusiasts caught a glimpse of the Jedi Master and recognized him. In response, McGregor playfully winked at the observant fans, much to their delight.
The Scottish star also shared his excitement about reuniting with Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker, for the highly anticipated Disney+ series, 'Obi-Wan Kenobi.' McGregor remarked on the incredible scale of the production, noting that he had never seen so many people on a film set before. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to step back into his character's robes and film a thrilling lightsaber duel.
Reflecting on his relationship with Christensen, McGregor fondly recalled their close bond during the shooting of the prequel trilogy. He revealed that they had formed a 'fraternal' connection, which made working together a joy. As McGregor prepares to reprise his role as Obi-Wan, fans can look forward to witnessing the on-screen chemistry between the two actors once again.
In a separate panel, Hayden Christensen revealed a different aspect of his life as a Star Wars actor. He disclosed that his daughter Briar Rose has yet to watch the iconic film franchise, despite his attempts to introduce her to it. Christensen humorously shared that Briar Rose's interests lie elsewhere, particularly in a show called 'Liv and Maddie.' It seems that for now, the Star Wars galaxy will have to wait for the young fan.
Beyond his Star Wars endeavors, McGregor is eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming film, 'Bleeding Love.' Set to hit theaters on February 16th, the movie features McGregor alongside his own daughter, Clara.
As Ewan McGregor continues to captivate audiences with his portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi and his exciting ventures outside of the galaxy far, far away, fans eagerly anticipate the Disney+ series and his future projects.
