Jailed former Garda Paul Moody is scrubbing toilets after being given a prison job as a cleaner.
The domestic abuser spends his days mopping up after fellow inmates at the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise. Moody, 42, was jailed for three years and three months for a campaign of terror on his former partner who was ill with cancer.
A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “It’s a far cry from the job he had on the outside. “Moody was given the job after being moved from Mountjoy to the Midlands.

“It will earn him a few extra euro a week. He will be able to spend it in the jail tuck shop on things like teabags and chocolate.” The ex-Garda clashed with a female prison officer when he arrived at Midlands but things have settled.
The source said: “He didn’t get off to a great start at the jail after coming to loggerheads with a female warder. He verbally abused her and basically asked her if she didn’t know who he was. Since then things have quietened down.”
Moody’s brave victim, referred to as ‘Nicola’ in court, spoke out after his sentencing hearing. The court heard how over a 14-hour period he sent her 652 messages, one every 90 seconds, describing her as “riddled with cancer”.
Twisted Moody, who assaulted her and stole her cancer medication, told her he hoped she would “get raped and bleed” on holiday. It emerged in recent weeks that Moody was arrested and quizzed over allegations of historical sexual abuse.
