Everything you need to know about Nottingham's Beat the Streets festival

Nottingham's Beat the Streets is returning to the city centre once again this year in order to raise money for homelessness prevention charity Framework in support of the work they do. The festival takes place in various venues on January 29.

The festival is now in its fifth year and it has raised more than £320,000. The festival’s fundraising has enabled Framework to carry out vital work including taking on mental health workers to support rough sleepers with complex needs, enabling its emergency winter shelter to stay open all year round taking vulnerable rough sleepers off the streets and helping to open Mechanics House, which provides accommodation and resettlement support.

. Performances over the years have included some of Nottingham's best bands such as Cucumaras and 94 Gunships

A new round of performers was announced in late December so there are now more than 50 artists for visitors to catch at the event. Performers this year include Future Sound of Nottingham winners Alt Blk Era, Catmilk, Girlband and Left Hand Lane.

Below we've got all the information you may need ahead of the festival.

Where is it on?

The festival takes place in different venues across the city centre so prepare to make a quick dash from place to place. As the event is organised by DHP Family, the obvious venues are Bodega, Rescue Rooms and Rock City. Rough Trade will also be taking part this year.

It is suggested that visitors head to Rock City first to collect tickets and wristbands from the box office positioned there.

What time does it start?

The event starts on at 1pm on January 29 but there are restrictions on ages. Those under 14 with a wristband are allowed in venues until 11pm then any attendees over-18 can stay beyond that.

Venues may have different opening times so it's worth checking in advance. There are different timings for each band so it's worth drawing up a plan of action ahead of attending so you don't miss anything.

Where can I get food and drink?

The event is on in the city centre so you won't be short of places to pop into to grab a drink or some food.

How much are the tickets?

You will need a wristband to get into venues rather than individual tickets for each band. The wristbands are donations for Framework and are available in different amounts from £10 to £30.

You can also buy merchandise on the day or add badges to your order for an extra £2.

What about transport?

As the venue takes place in the city centre, the usual transport is available from bus to trams to cars. However, public transport should be a bit busier so plan accordingly.
