Everything we know about death at Ystradfellte Falls as emergency teams resume search

A massive search is set to resume on Friday morning (January 6) for a woman who is missing after an incident at a Welsh beauty spot. The body of another woman was recovered from a waterfall, while the search continues for a second woman.

The incident is now entering its third day, and the families of the two women have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

Here is what we know so far:

When was the alarm was raised?

Dyfed-Powys Police said officers were first called to Ystradfellte Falls, known as the Four Waterfalls Walk in Brecon Beacons National Park, at about 11.45am on Wednesday, January 4.

Police confirmed that a search for two women has been taking place in the area since, with the body of one woman sadly recovered from the water. A spokesperson said the search for a second woman is ongoing and the families of both women have been informed.

The search was suspended on Thursday evening when it got dark and is due to resume on Friday morning.

Who is involved in the rescue mission?

The rescue mission - involving fire crews, mountain rescue and the National Police Air Support - has been ongoing since Wednesday.

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said its wading crew from Neath and swift water rescue team from Swansea Central were also at the scene. A fire service boat and underwater camera were used to assist in the recovery.

High, fast-flowing water meant the search was called off on Wednesday evening, however it resumed this morning at first light on Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon, police confirmed they were still looking for a second woman. Later that day, police confirmed the search had been called off again due to poor light and water conditions.
