We’ve talked, we’ve speculated, and we’ve deliberated. Now, it’s time to finally dive into the changes coming to Road to the Show in MLB The Show 26. San Diego Studio has just dropped a new Fielding Feedback video, and for those of us who live for the grind of making it to the Big Leagues, there is a lot to unpack.
The focus this year is clear: it’s all about the Road to Cooperstown. It’s not just about getting called up anymore; it’s about your legacy and how you’re remembered.
Here is everything included in Road to the Show 26.
Everything New In Road To The Show

The Road To Cooperstown
The biggest shift in MLB The Show 26 is the emphasis on your Hall of Fame candidacy. Every chapter of your career — from the goals you set to the achievements you earn — will now factor into your legacy.
The ultimate goal? To determine if you are a first-ballot unanimous selection, a fringe candidate, or someone who can dethrone legends like Nolan Ryan in the record books. It’s time to build up your character from the start and show everyone why you deserve to be immortalized.
Expanded Amateur Experience & Road To Omaha
We can all agree that the amateur aspect of a player’s career was often overshadowed in previous years. However, MLB The Show 26 changes things up a bit. SDS is doubling down on the high school and college experience, which is exactly what we wanted to see.
- More Schools: The roster of college teams has more than doubled. There are now 19 different schools available for recruitment, with 11 new additions.
- Recruiting Packages: Colleges in your region will take notice of your high school achievements first. They will offer unique packages that include increased scouting exposure, skill development, equipment, and tokens. You’ll have to decide: sign early for the benefits, or hold out for an offer from your dream school?
- NCAA Integration: The Road to Omaha is officially in. We will finally be able to play through the entire NCAA Men’s College World Series tournament format.
Your performance here matters more than ever. It feeds into a new Pro Potential rating, which directly impacts your draft slot and your goal selection slots later in your career.
Dynamic Goals & Perks
Goal setting plays a major role this year. You can now choose between short-term objectives (like striking out 10 batters in a game) or long-term chases (like winning Rookie of the Year). The more ambitious the goal, the greater the reward.
As you hit specific milestones — such as home run counts or consecutive games reaching base — you will trigger dynamic new Perks. For example:
- The Heart Attack Perk: This gives you an exit velocity boost, specifically when your team is down and trying to rally.
There’s also a new Perks Menu, which makes it easier to see exactly how to unlock and upgrade these abilities. On top of that, we have new visual mastery effects, like ball trails that turn red (fastball) or blue (offspeed) to show where the pitch crossed the plate.
New Momentum-Based Simulation
We know that not everyone has the time to play every single inning of a 2,000+ game career. Recognizing this, SDS has reworked the simulation engine.
You can still sim sections of your career, with performance driven by your Overall Rating (OVR). But here is the cool part: you now get a Momentum boost. If you manually play a hot week or go on a scoreless inning streak, you gain a temporary OVR boost for the simulated games that follow. So, even if your OVR is a 57, you might simulate as a 67 if you’ve been playing well.
Plus, the game will now alert you when a major milestone is approaching — like chasing a home run record or a marquee pitching matchup — so you can jump back in and take control.
Player Agency
Once you reach the majors, MLB 26 aims to give you more control over your destiny. You can now request trades, talk to coaches about switching positions (or moving to DH), and work with your reps to plan for free agency.
Mid-season logic has also been improved. You will receive alerts when you emerge as a candidate for awards like MVP, giving you the chance to push for those specific stats.
That’s it for everything new in MLB The Show 26 Road to the Show. The game launches on March 17, 2026. However, players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition can start their journey four days early on March 13.
