The first Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion is just around the corner, and developer Gameloft outlined what it’s bringing to the cozy life-sim on Dec. 5, 2023. There’s quite a bit in store and a three-act story, which is good considering Gameloft is charging $29.99 for it.
That three-act story centers on Jafar and his nefarious, time-traveling antics, and while Gameloft promises more lore about life in the valley before the Forgetting, the main focus is on Eternity Isle. Jafar wrecked this perfect little gem of an island, and now it’s up to you to literally rewind time with the new hourglass Royal Tool and put everything to rights again. The first act launches with the expansion pass, and the remaining two will release separately in 2024.
Rift in Time’s Eternity Isle introduces three new biomes to explore: Ancient’s Landing, Wild Tangle, and Glittering Dunes. All three are fully customizable, just like the rest of the valley, so you can fill them with plants, furniture, or whatever you want, including some of the new furniture exclusive to the Rift in Time expansion. Also exclusive to the expansion are new villagers – Gaston, Rapunzel, EVE from WALL-E, and even Jafar – who you can park on Eternity Isle forever or bring back to the Valley.
A new “lucky villager” arrives in the expansion’s second wave in spring 2024, and the tale – and Jafar’s inclusion as a recruitable villager, apparently – concludes in summer 2024.
If you don’t want to shell out extra for the Rift in Time pass, Gameloft still has a lot planned for future free updates on PC and console. Jack Skellington of Nightmare Before Christmas fame arrives in the Valley on Dec. 5, 2023, and Sully and Mike from Monster Inc are planned for a “late winter” update, along with a new Monsters Inc realm. Spring brings a “vibrant” villager, what looks like a Mulan realm in late spring, and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog in summer 2024.
