Rory McIlroy received plenty of plaudits following his incredible final round at the Masters on Sunday.
McIlroy's round of 64 was just one shot off the course record and his second lowest round in any major.
It was also the only bogey-free round by any golfer all week as he matched the lowest ever final-round score at Augusta.
McIlroy ended the round with an unbelievable bunker shot that found its way into the hole for a birdie.
The 32-year-old finished three shots behind world number one Scottie Scheffler, who four-putted the 18th in an otherwise brilliant performance to claim his first major title with a fourth win in his last six starts.
And plenty of fans took to social media to praise the Hollywood golfer after his round.
One said: "Trust me on this one. I’ve been a huge doubter of Rory McIlroy the last two years, even this week. But after the way he played today, he’s back. His 64 is going to vault him to a big season the rest of the year. His confidence right now has to be sky high."
Another commented: "Well done @McIlroyRory. Great to see you back challenging for the biggies. That chip out the bunker to make a birdie on your 72nd was perfection. Hope you are in for some success the rest of the 2022 season."
Piers Morgan tweeted: "Incredible.. one of the greatest shots in #Masters history, to complete one of the greatest rounds in #Masters history. Take a bow."
Someone else posted: "WOW what a final round by @McIlroyRory superb back in the zone well done."
One other tweet read: "So proud of you @McIlroyRory.. back to your absolute best."
McIlroy vowed to keep trying to win the Masters and complete a career grand slam after the thrilling runners-up finish.
“It’s what you dream about, right? You dream about getting yourself in position,” McIlroy said after his wild celebrations on the 18th green with playing partner Collin Morikawa, who also holed out from the same bunker.
“I wasn’t quite close enough to the lead (but) to play as well as I did and then to finish like this, I mean, it’s just absolutely incredible.
“This tournament never ceases to amaze and that’s as happy as I’ve ever been on a golf course right there. That was an incredible. I’ve never heard roars like on the 18th green. It was really cool.
“I will come up a little bit short, but I gave it a great go and I can’t ask any more of myself. I went out there today, shot my best ever score at Augusta and it’s going to be my best finish ever.
“Probably not quite good enough, but I’ll come back next year and keep trying.”
