Everyone notices same thing about renowned ring announcer during live show

Dimitry Bivol returned to the ring last night for the first time since defeating Canelo Alvarez in May with a unanimous decision victory over Gilberto Ramirez.

With the win, Bivol retains the WBA Super-Light Heavyweight Championship and improves his flawless record to 21-0.

But it was ring announcer David Diamante that captured the imagination of social media users on Saturday evening. During the event, the much-respected veteran announcer seemed noticeably under the weather.

After a while, Diamante appeared to be losing his voice. A nightmare proposition for a ring announcer, and one that didn't go unnoticed by plenty of eagle-eyed Twitter users.

"@daviddiamante worst feeling in the world when your job is being a voice and you are losing your voice. Hot tea with lemon, honey, and whiskey my friend," said one user.

Another said, "Didn’t think David Diamante’s voice would last for this bit - fair play to him!"

"David Diamante's voice barely hanging in there as he gets through the main event intros," posted one user.

While another tweeted, "David diamante sounds like he is losing his voice in there."

"How DAZN let David Diamante announce all these fights without someone bringing him a pack of Hall's Smoothers, Lemon & Ginger tea something!" said one more.

And perhaps the pick of the bunch was one user's decision to poke fun at the ring announcer's tendancy to repeat the surname of the fighter after announcing them.

"Did David Diamanté’s voice get into an accident… Accident!"

Hopefully the 50-year-old's voice is feeling a little better today.
