Liverpool kept their hopes of the Premier League alive with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.
Jurgen Klopp's men headed to Villa Park aware of the fact that anything other than three points would see Manchester City strongly placed to become champions. Goals from Joel Matip and Sadio Mane saw the Reds overturn the home's side early strike through Douglas Luiz, despite not being at their best on the night.
Our chief Liverpool reporter, Ian Doyle, was in the West Midlands to watch proceedings play out and was particularly impressed by the performances of Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold - both of whom were awarded a match rating of eight. At the other end of the scale were Fabinho (4), Curtis Jones (6), Mohamed Salah (6) and Kostas Tsimikas (6).
