'Everyone knows' - Pep Guardiola makes Premier League title admission in Liverpool race

Liverpool may be breathing down the necks of Manchester City in the Premier League title race, but Pep Guardiola insists that he can sleep easily for the next two weeks at least.

The Reds' 2-0 victory at Arsenal on Wednesday, coupled with City's failure to get a win at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace on Monday has seen the gap between the two teams reduced to just a point, having played the same amount of games.

Both sides have their destiny in their own hands, with nine more wins for either guaranteeing the title, but with FA Cup quarterfinals to take care of this weekend, followed by the international break, City boss Guardiola is still content with the Sky Blues' standing at the Premier League summit.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference today, ahead of City's FA Cup clash with Southampton on Sunday, he said: "It is what it is. We are going to sleep [the next] 14 days top of the league and after we come back from the international break then nine games of Premier League. I think everyone knows what we have to do. It’s a marvellous challenge, we’ll be there to face them. Start with Burnley and nine games.

"We are leading right now in the Premier League. I don't know if we will win but the destiny is in our hands."

The current champions will resume their Premier League schedule on April 2, with a trip to Burnely, but by then Liverpool could already be top of the league after playing relegation-troubled Watford at Anfield in an earlier lunch time kick-off.

Both Liverpool and City continue to fight for trophies on two other fronts. Liverpool will visit Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday and will be confident of making it through to a Wembley semi-final.

The two sides have also avoided each other in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw and can now only meet each other in the competition if they both reach the final in Paris on May 28.
